Artist's Biography

Laurene Puls has received numerous local, regional, and national awards for colored pencil artwork.  Within the national organization, the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), she has been awarded the honor of Signature Status and a Five-Year Merit Award.  In 2009, she won Second Place in the Artist's Magazine 26th Annual Competition in the Animal/Wildlife Division.
 

Her work has been accepted by jurors into shows in California, Washington, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Illinois, Massachusetts, Vermont, Georgia and Florida.  It has appeared in local newspapers, American Artist online, and was published in Best of Colored Pencil IV.  Puls holds a life membership in CPSA, and is currently is an active member of the Detroit District Chapter of CPSA.

 

In addition to drawing, she also has designed and maintains four websites that promote colored pencil art and artists. She lays-out and prints greeting cards for herself and other colored pencil artists.

 

Laurene was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  In 1970, she graduated from Edinboro State College in Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Social Studies and was married.  In 1973, she and her husband moved to Ohio where they have raised three children.  She now lives with her husband, Gordon, and adult daughter, Emily, near North Canton.
